Cruroplasty

The skin along the inner thighs is usually less toned and is more elastic than the skin of the outer thighs. As a result of aging and weight loss the inner thigh skin loosens. If you have also had excessive exposure to the sun for years, the skin of the inner thighs may even be redundant and pendant. Even when you have a thick layer of fat along the inner thigh, a liposuction alone will not make the skin in this area tighter.

Please contact Dr. Elizabeth Ruiz for more information on the cruroplasty to schedule a consultation and assessment of your case.

Is Cruroplasty appropriate for me?

Thigh lift is recommended if fitness and weight loss have not helped you achieve your body goals.

A cruroplasty or thigh lift reshapes thighs, reducing excess skin and, in some cases, fat, resulting in smoother skin and a better contour provided in the lower body. When making the lifting of the thighs, Dr. Ruiz can delete either the inner half or outer skin of the thigh.

The cruroplasty is recommended for those who:

  • Have a relatively stable weight.
  • Have excess soft tissue along the inner or outer thigh.
  • Healthy people who do not have medical conditions that can impair healing or increase the risk of surgery.
  • Non smokers.
  • People with a positive attitude and realistic expectations about the surgery.
  • People committed to a healthy lifestyle, including healthy nutrition and adequate physical conditioning.

The best way to determine if you are a candidate for this procedure is through a consultation with Dr.Ruiz.

Preoperative for Cruroplasty

Dr. Elizabeth Ruiz makes all pre-operative recommendations for you to prepare for cruroplasty.

Cruroplasty or Thigh Lift

The cruroplasty or thigh lift is an outpatient procedure under intravenous anesthesia. The location of the incisions that Dr. Ruiz will use can vary in the area or areas to be treated, the degree of correction and preferences of the patient and the surgeon.

A commonly used technique for liposuction surgery is to first loosenthe overlying skin in the inner thigh. An incision in the groin crease where the front of the thigh meets the lower abdomen is then made. The incision continues around your upper thigh inside and ends in the crease under the buttock. The skin and tissue underneath are stretched upwards until it tightens the skin and excess tissue is trimmed. Deep layer sutures are placed in the strong connective tissue of the thigh, and then the incision is closed with absorbable sutures.

Recovery Cruroplasty

When cruroplasty is completed, bandages are used to protect the incisions. A compression garment is often used to treat inflammation and support the new contour of your thighs as yourecover.

One or more small drainage tubes may be temporarily placed under the skin to drain excess fluid or blood that may arise. Deep absorbable sutures are used to close the incisions and dissolve in approximately four months. If external skin sutures are used, these will be removed in one or two week after surgery. It is important that the patient has a companion to help them get home after surgery and, if possible, to help a couple of days after surgery.

Most patients should think about being out of work for seven to ten days. During this period, patients must remain either in a reclining or standing position to help the healing process.

Swelling and some bruising may occur after surgery, and last up to a month. Most patients can return to normal activity within about four to six months post cruroplasty.

Results Cruoplasty

The results of thigh lift are visible almost immediately, but may take several weeks for the final results to be quite noticeable. Some scars will be visible for a while, but the results are long lasting if you can maintain a stable weight and fitness. The scars will improve over time, about a year. As your body ages you naturally lose some strength. However most of the results are relatively permanent.
